Responding to Relationships (RTR) is a customized relationship experience that offers relevant and transformative skills to all U.S. military personnel, veterans, emergency responders and their partners. Each five-star series is led by relationship skills experts and co-facilitated by couples with first-hand experience in the field.

Retreat Weekend

Friday Night Registration Opens at 5pm, Event 7pm-9pm

Check into the hotel and get ready to enjoy the weekend. Registration opens at 5:00 PM. Event begins at 7:00 PM. Dive into content as you enjoy coffee and dessert.

Saturday 9am - 3:30pm

Begin day 2 with new skills-based learning and discover practical ways to connect with your partner. Explore content themes such as:

However I could sense that the passing of Sam's good friend was impacting her mood and disposition. There was an energy of friction that continued to draw my attention. The RTR retreat was a good way to introduce several interpersonal relationship concepts in a way that transcends theory. It provided structure on neutral ground that although uncomfortable at times, was accepted as an opportunity to grow beyond the workshops. We came into this with some hesitations, didn't want it to be like a "couples' counselor" and we loved it. We hope to put these tools we've learned into action in our everyday lives.

RTR is a great program. However, it feels less like a marriage retreat for good or "doing ok" couples...and more like an intervention for broken marriages. Several of the concepts were good, but felt like they didn't apply. [One activity] was spent saying "we don't have this issue...we navigated this years ago naturally!" This could however be more of an issue of expectation based on how our chaplain marketed the retreat.
